Modules and Zones

The Qcon-24 conveying system is made up of modules.  These modules can be straights, curves, merges, diverts, right angle transfers, inclines or declines.  Each module is divided into a number of “zones.”  

Straight Module

 Standard Lengths:  120”, 90”, 60”, 30”

Standard Components of Straight Modules

 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)

Required number of motorized rollers:

You can run up to 12 idlers off of one motorized roller

Required number of idler rollers

 Photo electric eye sensor and sensor reflector in each zone of module

24v DC power supply needed per 16 motorized rollers

Slaved Modules

12” – 30” Modules:  electrically slaved (see definition below.)

Less than 12” Modules:  mechanically slaved (see definition below.)

Electrically slaved modules:  (12” – 27”) Container accumulation cannot take place in an electrically slaved module.  Controlled by an upstream PLC.  Contains slaved drive roller, idler rollers and a motor control card.  The motor control card is run off of a companion zone motor control card.

30” “one zone” electrically slaved module:  Container accumulation can take place in a 30” slaved module.

Mechanically slaved modules:  (less than 12”) Contains only idler rollers slaved via o-rings.

Curved Modules

Standard: 30 degree, 45 degree, 60 degree, or 90 degree

90 Degree Curve Module (made up of two zones):  Components include PLC, motor control card, motorized roller with tapered sleeve, idler rollers with tapered sleeves and photo sensors and reflectors.

60 Degree Curve Module:  “One Zone” Electrically slaved

45 Degree Curve Module:  Electrically slaved

30 Degree Curve Module:  Electrically slaved

Container accumulation can take place in 90 degree and 60 degree curves.

Right Angle Transfer Modules (RAT)

Bi-direction

RAT provides a means of moving containers off of the main flow path to the left or right

bullet

Containers may also pass through the RAT and continue down the main flow path

 Components of RAT:

Three motor control cards for the following:

Roller Motor Control:  moves a container onto or through the RAT

bullet

Pop-up assembly:  moves a container to the right or left at a right angle.

Belt carriage assembly:  connected to pop-up via drive belt.

Two limit switches (up and down)

Divert Modules

Provides a means of “diverting” a container off of the main flow path into another flow or allowing the container to continue down its original flow path.

Merge Modules

Provides means of moving container straight down main flow path or accepting a merging container into that flow path.
